Our Erasmus Experience in Seville
On February 14, at 3 a.m., we left home and, with only a few hours of sleep, arrived at Bologna airport, ready to begin our one-month Erasmus adventure in Seville.
After a tiring flight, we were picked up by a transfer service that took us straight to our apartment, a place that from the very first moment felt lived-in but cozy. We had just enough time to settle in before heading out. That afternoon, with Antonietta, we took our first guided tour of the city, immediately struck by its beauty and perfect blend of modernity and tradition.
In the first few days, we realized how large and expansive Seville is, yet how it still maintains an authentic and deeply rooted local character. That contrast really impressed us.
Adjusting to our daily routines took some getting used to, from doing Italian-style grocery shopping all together, to washing dishes by hand in the early days, and misjudging the weather, thinking we had packed too many winter clothes… only to find out two weeks later that they were exactly what we needed.
On February 17, with Antonietta’s constant and generous help, we met our workplace mentors at each of our internship locations. From that day on, our days were divided between working in the mornings and discovering the city through activities and visits in the afternoons and evenings.
Our jobs in Seville
- Enrico and Gabriele worked at a pharmacy, handling IT and social media management. They resolved website issues, sent collaboration requests to Italian pharmacies, and created social media content for the company. Their team included other Italian students and Susana, a Spanish colleague they collaborated with.
- Matteo worked in hotel administration, translating the website into Italian and adjusting room prices. He worked closely with Victoria and David, sharing both responsibilities and fun moments.
- Andrea worked as a maintenance technician in a hotel, fixing all kinds of issues — from painting walls to replacing beds and electrical systems, even maintaining the pool. He worked alongside two amazing colleagues, both named Manolo, who were funny and always ready to help.
- Cristian worked as an electrician, putting his skills to the test in a professional Spanish environment.

Discovering Seville: culture & fun
After work, we spent our free time exploring Seville and its most fascinating spots. We visited Las Setas, both during the day and at night, this ultra-modern wooden structure gave us breathtaking views of the entire city. We also watched a short film about Seville inside the Setas.
Highlights included:
- Plaza de Toros, symbol of the Spanish bullfighting tradition
- Seville Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece that houses the remains of Christopher Columbus
- Real Alcázar, with its spectacular gardens and Moorish architecture
- Plaza de España, where we enjoyed a boat ride under the sun in a vibrant setting
We discovered the city’s more authentic side as well, passing through Macarena Arch and visiting Triana Market, where we tasted local specialties like:
- Tapas (gambas al ajillo, solomillo al whisky, espinacas con garbanzos)
- Andalusian-style paella
- Churros with chocolate, enjoyed at the historic café El Comercio
We also relaxed in Miraflores Park, near our apartment, where we watched ducks and enjoyed the peaceful greenery. During the first weeks, we often went to Murillo Park, where we were lucky enough to see some flamenco dancing.
At the Naval Museum in the Torre del Oro and at the Seville Aquarium, we learned about the city’s maritime history and saw many fascinating sea species.
On rainy days, we explored popular malls like Lagoh, Nervión, Torre de Sevilla, and Los Arcos, doing some shopping and enjoying the indoors.
Seville and its passion for football
Between culture and work, we couldn’t miss out on football! We attended two matches of the local teams, Sevilla FC and Real Betis, fully immersing ourselves in the fiery atmosphere of Spanish stadiums, an unforgettable way to feel even closer to the city.
Events and festivals
In the first two weekends, we were lucky to experience Electro Lunch, an electronic music festival along the Guadalquivir River with international DJs, an amazing event that showed us Seville’s modern and energetic side.
An unforgettable experience
Our Erasmus wasn’t just about work or tourism, it was a time where we learned how to manage everyday life in a foreign country, support one another, and embrace new experiences. The Incoma group and our tutor Angelica were always there for us, making everything easier.
All our supervisors were really satisfied with our work, impressed by our ability to adapt and perform well in an unfamiliar professional environment.
Of course, not everything went smoothly: one of us had to leave the experience on the tenth day due to personal reasons, which left a gap in our group. Still, our bond stayed strong until the very end.
On the final day, we woke up at 7 a.m., a little sad to be leaving a city that had become our home. The return flight to Italy brought us back richer in experiences, memories, and friendships.
Seville gave us an unforgettable month and who knows, maybe one day we’ll return…
