Empowering Inclusive Internationalisation: MOSAIC Seminar at Uniser Teacher Week 2025
This year’s Uniser Teacher Week (UTW) took on a particularly special dimension with the inclusion of the MOSAIC Seminar on Internationalisation of VET, a key moment within the week-long training course. Held in Bologna, UTW 2025 welcomed over 100 participants from across Europe, all committed to reimagining international mobility as a driver for equity and inclusion in vocational education.

The synergy between Uniser Teacher Week and the MOSAIC project reflects a shared commitment: making international opportunities accessible and inclusive for all learners, regardless of background or ability. Under this year’s theme, “Empowering Schools for Inclusive Internationalisation,” UTW 2025 equipped educators with practical strategies, hands-on tools, and meaningful connections to embed inclusion into their internationalisation strategies.

Bringing together 27 MOSAIC members, the seminar served as a living lab to test and improve training materials developed within the project. The opening session began with a warm welcome and introduction, followed by a dynamic “get-to-know-each-other” activity.

The group then moved into a structured workshop led by Lida, introducing the work done so far on teacher training. Participants were split into three working groups, each one engaging in hands-on testing of selected training modules, followed by open feedback and discussion on how to improve usability and impact in real school contexts.

After lunch, participants participated in a guided historical city tour of Bologna, a highlight for many, with one participant sharing:
“I really enjoyed Stefano’s historical city tour.”

On the second and third day, the seminar moved to the inspiring setting of Fondazione Golinelli, where participants delved into key topics related to inclusive internationalisation.

Sessions focused on:
- Designing inclusive learning pathways
- Identifying and overcoming barriers to international mobility
- Culturally responsive teaching strategies
- Using digital tools to support inclusion

The programme featured expert contributions, guided discussions, and collaborative workshops.
Immersive study visits: where inclusion meets craft
The final day of the seminar was dedicated to study visits that showcased inclusion through artistic and social innovation. Participants explored:

Eta Beta – Spazio Battirame
A unique social enterprise founded in 1992 by a collective of artists, Eta Beta combines art, craftsmanship and social impact. From cooking and technology labs to creative workshops for youth, their mission is clear: inclusion through creativity. Participants visited their Spazio Battirame venue in the Roveri district, where the integration of art, nature, and community is tangible.

Carla Cardarelli Atelier
Participants also met Carla and discovered her jewellery atelier which is hosting a French trainee from SEPR, previously encountered during the ISP in Lyon. The intimate atmosphere and passionate storytelling left a lasting impression.

“The visit to ETA BETA and Carla Cardarelli was the moment I felt most familiar and immersed in the atmosphere!”
Teachers’ reflections
Overall, MOSAIC seminar participants enjoyed this week by sharing the following feedback:
- “Everything was perfect. Excellent organisation, well done!”
- “I really appreciated the exchanges with our peers.”
- “Networking and opportunities to share our experiences were invaluable.”

Some participants noted that certain sessions felt a bit short due to time constraints, but appreciated the practical workshop format, which allowed for active involvement and immediate application.

Looking ahead
The MOSAIC seminar has been a crucial milestone in the project’s journey, providing real-time validation and co-creation of tools that will empower teachers to lead inclusive mobility projects in their schools. It was also a reminder of the power of collaboration, when internationalisation is not only about mobility but about building bridges and breaking barriers. As UTW and MOSAIC move forward, the shared mission continues: empowering educators to make inclusion the starting point – not the afterthought – of every international experience.
