A Month to Remember: The Diary of an Erasmus Experience in Valencia
Thanks to the Erasmus+ Accreditation of Malignani Institute, this group of students had the chance to explore, learn, and grow during an unforgettable experience in Valencia. Read their Erasmus journey and discover their incredible mobility!
“When we arrived at the airport, we met the other students who would be traveling with us and our tutor. We immediately started talking and making friends, which made us very happy because a beautiful bond was quickly formed between us.
After landing late in the evening, we reached the homes of the host families who would be accommodating us for the next 24 days. At first, we were a bit nervous about adapting to a new reality, with people we didn’t know and a language different from our own, but the warm welcome we received immediately made us feel at home. The host families were kind and helpful from the very beginning, ready to give us advice and support to help us settle in.
In the first few days, we started exploring Valencia, slowly discovering its most fascinating places. We were enchanted by Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Plaça de la Reina, and the historic center with the famous Plaza de la Virgen. We visited the Museum of Illusions, the Oceanogràfic, and the Science Museum, and were captivated by their beauty and interactivity.

Each day, we immersed ourselves more in Spanish culture, discovering hidden corners of the city, walking along the Jardín del Turia, through streets and alleys, and enjoying the sunset whenever we had the chance.

In the following days, we began our internships at the assigned companies. Each of us felt very comfortable in our workplace, feeling welcomed and valued. The first days involved some adjustment—getting used to the language and the new tasks—but over time, we grew more confident and independent. The company tutors welcomed us with great professionalism and openness, helping us improve our skills and making us feel part of the team.
We had the opportunity to put into practice what we had studied and to acquire new knowledge that will be useful for our future careers.
Outside of work, we took part in various cultural activities and excursions. We explored the Central Market, tasted local cuisine, and tried traditional dishes such as paella, tapas, and horchata. We visited the City of Arts and Sciences, admired the unique architecture of the city, and were amazed by the interactive shows.

We were lucky to be in Valencia during Las Fallas, an incredible festival that involves the entire city with huge papier-mâché sculptures, music, and breathtaking fireworks. We attended the Mascletà, a deafening explosion of firecrackers and fireworks that filled Plaza del Ayuntamiento with sound and emotion every day. One of the most spectacular experiences was the fireworks display at the Torres de Serranos, where the sky lit up with a thousand colors in a magical and engaging atmosphere.

We were also fascinated by the dancers who seemed to float in the sky, suspended between the towers in a show of light and elegance that made the experience even more surreal and emotional. It was incredible to be part of this Valencian tradition and to feel included—among the falleras and falleros, the Valencians and people from all over the world—in such a unique celebration.
During our stay, we formed a strong friendship among ourselves. We were no longer just travel companions, but a true group that supported each other. Our evenings were almost always spent together—doing different things or simply going out for a stroll after dinner.
We played several games of pool, spent evenings at the bowling alley, joined salsa and bachata group dances, organized dinners together, and even attended some truly unique magic shows. One of the most fun experiences was the Krampus Devils festival in Campanar, where we immersed ourselves in the festive atmosphere and had a blast “running under the fireworks.”

Another fun moment was when we decided to cook together to let the host families taste some traditional Italian dishes like pizza or carbonara. Between laughter, funny mistakes, and shared moments, it was a perfect occasion to further strengthen our bond and feel like a real team.
We spent unforgettable days on beach trips, evening walks through the city’s illuminated streets, and relaxing moments in the parks.
We truly loved the experience and lived it to the fullest, growing in every possible way. We deepened our bond, creating friendships that we hope will last well beyond this experience. We discovered the joy of sharing new adventures, facing challenges together, and growing as a group.

At the end of the month, saying goodbye to Valencia was difficult, but we knew this experience would leave an indelible mark on our lives. Once back home, we realized just how much Erasmus had changed us. We grew, we gained new skills, and above all, we created memories that we will carry with us forever. Valencia will always be in our hearts, and we hope, one day, to return together to relive the magic of this extraordinary city.
A special thanks goes to our group leader Marta, whose energy and kindness gave us so many beautiful experiences and made every day special. Thanks to her, we discovered hidden corners of the city, participated in exciting activities, and made our Erasmus experience even more unforgettable. Without her, none of this would have been the same!”
